This qualification will allow learners to develop their knowledge and skills in the benefits of oxygen therapy, identify for the use of oxygen, explain contraindications prohibiting the use of oxygen, explain the dangers of using compressed gas, outline health & safety rules for the use/storage/handling of oxygen, carry out operational checks.
Topics include:
• The benefits of oxygen therapy.
• Identify for the use of oxygen.
• Explain contraindications prohibiting the use of oxygen.
• Explain the dangers of using compressed gas.
• Outline health & safety rules for the use/storage/handling of oxygen.
• Carry out operational checks.
• Identify when Oxygen is required.
• Administer Oxygen using the required flow rate.
In line with industry guidance, it is recommended that the learner re sits the course again after 3 years.
In addition, this particularly detailed session is for those employers who are at ‘high risk’ in respect of their work activity and is certainly not a standard part of the FAW (First Aid at Work) or eFAW (emergency First Aid at Work) training.
